Lloyd Pest Control University

You might be familiar with that old adage: if you terminate a person’s pests, they’ll be pest-free for a day, but if you teach someone to terminate their own pests, they’ll be pest-free for life (that is an famous adage, right?)

Suffice it to say, we value education at Lloyd Pest Control, and that’s why we offer an extensive training program that prepares new hires to succeed in the world of pest control.

Your professor

Pest control is a specialized career—an ever-evolving field that mixes public health, science and tactical handiwork to rid structures of pests. It’s not always easy work, which is why we emphasize the importance of a robust education. And you couldn’t be in better hands than our resident Entomological Society of America Board-certified entomologist, Efrain Velasco.

Velasco, a registered environmental health specialist, has nearly 20 years of experience in the pest-control industry. His background as a county health inspector gives him a leg-up on other instructors due to his knowledge of standards set by third party auditors (including FDA, health department, etc.).  With certifications from California Department of Pesticide Regulation, American Society of Agronomy, and International Society of Arboriculture, there are few people more qualified to enrich pest-obsessed minds as Efrain Velasco.

The curriculum

At Lloyd Pest Control, we pride ourselves offering the most extensive training in the industry, making it accessible to even those with no prior pest control experience. The program consists of nine days in the quality control department, plus extensive field training with supervisors or top technicians. Unlike most schoolwork, however, you’ll be paid for your training. Imagine if somebody paid you to write all those Pride and Prejudice essays in high school…

Graduates from the program will receive their Applicators license, which allows any individual who is licensed by the board to apply a pesticide, rodenticide, or allied chemicals or substances for the purpose of eliminating, exterminating, controlling, or preventing infestation or infections of pests or organisms on behalf of a registered company.

The Applicator license is the entry-level license in pest control, but we encourage graduates to obtain a Field Representative license down the road. This license allows an individual who is licensed by the board to secure structural pest control work, identify infestations or infections, make inspections, apply pesticides, submit bids for or otherwise contract, on behalf of a registered company. Both licenses allow technicians to perform these duties while working for a registered company.

Post-graduate work

Go forth, young men and or women! Enrich the world with your new talents— terminate those bugs, remove those rats. For the world is your pest-free oyster.

Okay, so maybe graduating from LPC U isn’t as fantastical as the scenario described above. And we get it: the pest business can be dirty. In many cases, we’re removing some unpleasant critters from properties—pests that would send most people screaming. So, in place a boring work environment, we can offer you the support, camaraderie and excitement that have earned Lloyd Pest Control so much acclaim from its own employees.

As a family-owned business, we understand that a paycheck isn’t the only thing that fosters quality employees, which is why we strive to make our employees feel valued with competitive salaries, paid vacation, medical/dental/vision benefits, not to mention a retirement plan and bonuses. We also know that that a healthy work/life balance is essential to keeping our employees happy, and our commitment to safety and health is unmatched. We’re proud that the average length of service for our technicians is nearly 10 years.

We want our employees to know that no matter how deep they are in the trenches, we’ll be right behind them.

Think you’ve got what it takes to be a pest control pro?
